s the waters of the Atlantic and Pacific. The travelerlooks down upon four lines of road, terrace beyond terrace, the last so far be-low as to be quite indistinct to view. Wonder at the triumphs of engineer-ing skill is strangely mingled with the feelings of awe and admiration at thestupendous grandeur of the scene. TOLTEC GORGE. The tremendous gorge, whose sides aresplintered rocks and monumental crags, and whose depths are tilled with thesnow-white waters of a foaming torrent, lies beneath him, the blue sky abovehim, and all around the majesty and mystery of the mountains. ANIMAS CANON. Animas Cafion is one of the wildest and most picturesque gorges in theRocky Mountains. Through it the Rio de las Animas Perdidas, or Riverof Lost Souls, finds its way to the valley b
